The quantity of the heavy oil fly ash which is generated recently in 2002 at ESP (electrostatic precipitator) of power plants in Korea is approximately 10,000 tons and most of it is being incinerated or re-utilized as a desulfurizing agent. Heavy Oil Fly Ash, Reutilization, Pigment, Carbon Black, Admixture This study has found, heavy oil fly ash has the potential to be reutilized as a black pigment or admixture for secondary cementious material. Characteristic color of heavy oil fly ash was similar to carbon black. The particle size ranges from 10 to 120 μ m, and XRD data confirms that it is mainly composed of amorphous carbon. A possibility of reutilization as a black pigment for secondary cementious material was investigated by the analysis of particle size distribution, color, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). The chemical analysis showed that the main contents of heavy oil fly ash are composed of carbon, sulfur and residue ash.
